Remember, cardboard can be listed under “trash” on your expense report.  Discarded items valued under $1 do not need to be assigned a value, so they won’t affect your budget.

  • Edit Your Footage
Edited footage or photos should use smooth transitions and be clear to the viewer.
  • Lighting & Location
Choose a location with a lot of available light. Lighting from multiple sources around the room is preferable to overhead lighting. If possible, use natural light by working a few feet away from a window, standing with one shoulder toward the window. If you shoot outdoors, choose a spot where the sun will not be directly in front of or behind you. Before 11:00 am and after 2:00 pm are the best times to shoot outdoors.
  • Sound
Test sound quality before you shoot. If you want to explain your talent, keep your tone positive, natural and even. Try not to over rehearse or memorize line for line.

Describe DI

How would you explain what DI is in 30 seconds?  Here’s how Chuck Cadle, CEO of Destination Imagination, Inc., described DI at a recent seminar.

Our organization teaches students the skills of communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. We use challenge-based learning to give them the opportunity to learn and experience the creative process from imagination to innovation. The result is that students pre-K through college learn social and emotional intelligence, literacy, and how to proactively solve problems. Through these experiences kids create new neural pathways in their brains that will move them to higher-order thinking and to a new level of self-efficacy. Together, we can change the world, one team at a time!
